What is FTA?

A Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is an agreement between two or more countries to eliminate or reduce tariffs and non-tariff barriers to promote international trade.

The main objectives include increasing market accessibility, simplifying trade procedures to stimulate economic growth, creating jobs, and enhancing the well-being of the citizens.

One of the key features of an FTA is the elimination or reduction of import tariffs between the contracting countries, allowing goods and services to move more freely without additional costs.

Currently, Korea and Indonesia have three agreements: the Korea-ASEAN FTA (AKFTA), the Korea-Indonesia CEPA

(IK-CEPA), and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
